IL Route 31 at Virginia Road & Klasen Road
McHenry County Division of Transportation
The project consists of reconstruction and widening of IL Route 31 at its intersections with Klasen Road and Virginia Road. The Virginia Road intersection will be realigned to the north to increase the distance from the Klasen Road intersection and to allow it to intersect IL Route 31 at a 90° angle to improve safety and traffic flow. This section of roadway was part of the Phase I study of the Western Algonquin Bypass that included traffic studies, alignment alternatives, capacity analysis, intersection design studies, and a location drainage study. The proposed improvement includes new drainage structures, P.C. concrete pavement, new traffic signals, and a bike path. Additional right-of-way requirements have been established by Civiltech with Jorgensen & Associates completing the Plat of Highways.
