Civiltech Celebrates 20 years of services
Twenty years ago, four like-minded engineers came together to form the foundation of what would become one of the leading transportation engineering firms in northeastern Illinois. Civiltech Principal Robert J. Andres, P.E., PTOE remarked about this impending anniversary: An anniversary is not only an event to celebrate but a time to reflect. A time to reflect upon where you started, what you´ve accomplished, who you´ve become. We´ve enjoyed many successes along the way tempered by a few failures. We fought our way from a little upstart firm who pleaded for a chance to show what we could do, to become a major competitor in the Chicago transportation engineering market. We have much to be proud of.
One thing we were good at from the beginning was hiring talented people who shared our willingness to work hard. Our formula for success, at least on the surface, was really quite simple. For each client, we would provide quality engineering on time and within budget. It was a simple concept but one that was hard to achieve. We (along with many of our competitors) could hit two out of those three marks almost every time. Consistently hitting all three, however, was something that was not often accomplished and thus was something we thought would be valued by our clients. We set that as our main objective. We would not concentrate on building a successful company, but would concentrate on completing successful projects. With time, it worked.
As is often the case in business, success grew out of previous failures. We wanted the company we were about to create to be different from any consulting engineering firm we had ever worked for. It would be based upon the belief that the true value of the company would not lie in the company founders or the company name; it would come from the people who made it work. And not just key people but all of the people.
Civiltech Celebrates 20 Years with its Employees
To thank the entire Civiltech staff for a successful 20 years of service, the company decided to hold monthly employee celebrations, some of which included an afternoon of Whirlyball, taking in a Chicago Shamrox Lacrosse Game, and an company golf outing. Not only do these activities serve to foster camaraderie within the company, but also displays the appreciation the company feels for its employees.
