Chief Layout Specialist

This position requires a B.S. in Civil Engineering or related field with a minimum of three years of experience. The preferred candidate will perform Crew Chief related duties associated with the layout and verification of roadway and bridge work on various municipal, highway agency, and private development projects. An understanding of standard layout practices as they relate to control points, data collection, cross sectioning, and topographic information gathering in compliance with contract plans, specifications, and applicable standards is required. Ability to operate equipment including total station, GPS, GIS, transit, and level.  An understanding of Microstation and other applicable engineering software is desirable. Candidates must have the ability to multi-task, communicate well, and problem solve.

Resident Engineer II

This position requires a B.S. in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field with a minimum of four years of experience. The preferred candidate will perform engineering and related duties associated with construction inspection/layout of roadway and bridge work on various municipal, highway agency, and private development projects. An understanding of the requirements of Phase III Engineering as they relate to the process of inspecting construction improvements to ensure contractor work is in compliance with contract plans, specifications, and applicable standards is required. An understanding of Microstation and other applicable engineering software is desirable. Candidates must have the ability to multi-task, communicate well, and problem solve.

Engineer II | Phase II  Posted on 8/24/2018  

This position requires a B.S. in Civil Engineering with 2 to 5 years of transportation related experience. The candidate should have the ability to obtain Fundamentals of Engineering registration within 1 year as well as registration as a Professional Engineer in Illinois after four years of experience. An understanding of the requirements of Phase II Engineering as they relate to the process of developing plans, special provisions, estimates, bid documents and permit applications for projects utilizing various funding source is required. Candidates must be proficient in technical writing with a strong knowledge of IDOT policies and procedures. MicroStation/GEOPAK experience is desirable.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and paralegal certificate or appropriate job-related experience required, preferably in a professional services firm
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in contract administration
  • Familiarity with IDOT, CDOT, Illinois Tollway, County and municipal procurement processes is preferred

Engineer IV | Water Resources  Posted on 8/24/2018

This position requires a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and a minimum of 4 years’ experience in performing and coordinating engineering and related duties associated with hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, designing, computing, plan development and technical reports for projects. Professional Engineering license with the State of Illinois is required. The candidate should have experience with CAD software (AutoCAD or Microstation). Experience with applicable hydrologic/hydraulic software packages (HEC-1, HEC-HMS, TR-20, TR-55, HEC-2, HEC-RAS, WSPRO, HEC-UNET and FEQ)  is strongly desired. Prior experience on Department of Transportation or local agency project is required, while specific experience on IDOT projects is highly desirable.

Sr. Structural Engineer  Posted on 8/24/2018

This position requires a B.S. in Civil Engineering with an emphasis on Structural Engineering from an accredited 4-year college or university. M.S. in Civil Engineering with an emphasis on Structural Engineering is preferred. A minimum of 8+ years experience in the field of transportation related structures is required. Current Professional and Structural Engineering licensure is required.
           
The preferred candidate will be responsible for the design and detailing of transportation structures including highway and railroad bridges, retaining walls and box culverts under the supervision of the Director of Structural Design Services. Essential duties include the performance of structural inspections and the preparation of structural calculations, technical reports, contract plans and specifications, and construction cost estimates. Responsibilities will also include project management, as well as the preparation of professional service proposals and agreements. Prior CDOT, IDOT, Tollway design experience is desired. Fluency with Microstation and structural analysis software is required.

The Messenger/Driver is responsible for driving passenger vehicles and coordinating the delivery and pick up of critical client material in a timely, courteous and professional manner.
