The Glen Redevelopment
The project consisted of the redevelopment of over 1,200 acres of the closed Glenview Naval Air Station (GNAS). The Village of Glenview obtained ownership of the land and completed a 2-year planning process to develop a Master Plan for the redevelopment. The Master Plan not only determined land use types/locations and zonings, but also included development of a conceptual roadway and utility network. The proposed improvements consisted of construction of over five miles of collector and arterial roadways, traffic signals, roadway lighting, storm sewers, sanitary sewers, water mains, wetland mitigation and regional storm water management/detention. Civiltech´s responsibility also included coordinating the traffic signal interconnection for the Lehigh Avenue/Chestnut Avenue/METRA Railroad through the Illinois Commerce Commission.
The engineering services consisted of analyzing existing and projected traffic patterns, developing proposed conceptual geometric improvements, preparing detailed contract plans and bid documents for improvements to existing and new roadway segments, decorative roadway lighting, traffic signals, landscaping and site amenities, as well as construction layout and inspection services. It also involved coordination with State, County, Metra and Village officials (including residents). Wetland mitigation, drainage studies/plans and underground utility design were completed by the Prime Consultant.
