Quentin Road
South of Long Grove Road to North of U.S. Route 12
Lake County Division of Transportation
This project is centered around the intersection of Quentin Road and U.S. Route 12 (Rand Road) in the Villages of Kildeer and Deer Park in Lake County, Illinois. Quentin Road is an important north-south arterial in the southern portion of the County and U.S. Route 12 is part of the Illinois Department of Transportation’s Strategic Regional Arterial System, which is intended to accommodate regional travel demand. Both of these roadways are heavily traveled and the intersection of Quentin Road/U.S. Route 12 is severely congested for many hours of the day.
The project consists of widening and reconstructing one mile of Quentin Road from two lanes to four lanes and widening approximately one mile of U.S. Route 12 from four lanes to six lanes. At the Quentin Road/U.S. Route 12 intersection, 30-foot medians will be provided to accommodate dual left turn channelization. Right turn channelization will also be provided. The proposed improvement results in substantial right-of-way acquisition and it is necessary to acquire one residence and one business.
Although engineering is funded locally, Civiltech and the Lake County Division of Transportation are working with the Illinois Department of Transportation to follow Federal-aid guidelines in order to remain eligible for future federal funds. A Project Development Report was prepared for this project. This project also includes extensive wetland, flood plain, hydraulic and drainage studies, as well as air quality and highway noise analyses.
