Elgin O'Hare Western Access (EOWA) - Devon Avenue Bridge over I-290

Illinois Tollway

As part of the Illinois Tollway's Elgin O'Hare Western Access (EOWA) program, the Devon bridge over I-290 had to allow more room for the interchange lanes below. Civiltech was selected by the Tollway to perform Construction Engineering (CE) for this improvement. Tollway managers complimented our CE team when selecting us by stating that they know we can build a sound and smooth bridge as proven on our successful flyover structure within the Cherry Valley Interchange.

The Devon bridge project involved intense coordination with: two Villages who have jurisdiction of their decorative items on the structure; Cook County who will be responsible for the bridge deck; and of course IDOT who will maintain the substructure as well as lane closures on I-290 below. Further coordination was also required between the adjacent EOWA projects and their contractors.

Along with all of the much needed coordination, the bridge had to be built as well. Civiltech does shine when it comes to new structures. Our team makes certain all the specifications are met, the bridge layout is correct, and the installation of all the materials from rebar to concrete is properly placed.
